Day 14 and 15

I've had enough of the knitting for a bit and decided to try crocheting.  These are my little practice swatches.  It took a bit of loosing stitches or gaining stitches, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.  I'm not sure why they are so "curly" though.

Day 9 & 10

I was able to knit a quick facecloth on both day 8 and day 9.  I'm just trying to get comfortable with the basic stitch before trying something more adventurous.   These are fairly small, the perfect size for my 8 year old.

Day 8

Day_8

Success!  I finally completed my knitting project.  It is a short scarf for my youngest daughter.  It's short because I ran out of yarn.  I don't think I dropped any stitches, but it is a little bit "wonky".  She likes it and that is what really matters.

Day 6 & 7

If at first you don't succeed...  Day 6 time was spent knitting and then tearing out the project.  It was really a poor attempt.

Day 7 time was spent rolling the yarn into a nice neat little ball and starting again.  It looks a little better, but I'm still not sure it will make it into a finished project.  Maybe knitting really isn't "my thing".  Time will tell.

Day 5

During Thing-a-Day 2010, I took a shot at knitting.  It was a real struggle and I barely managed to completed a small square.  No surprise then, that I hadn't picked up a knitting needle since the challenge ended.

Tonight I decided to try again.  I was thrilled to discover that I remembered how to do it without viewing a tutorial.  It actually went pretty well and I got a good start on... something - I'm not sure what yet.

Day 4

I spent a little time today handcarving stamps for swaps on Swap-bot.  I used pink rubber from Speedball for these.  I use this thin rubber for stamps that I know I will be mounting.  The heart stamp is mounted on a wine cork  (purchased new, so they don't smell like wine).  It's mounted to the wrong end, but maybe nobody will notice.   The little birds are simply mounted on wooden discs.

Day 2 and Day 3

My Day 2 creative time was spent finishing a groovy floral apron for my Etsy store.  I love the fabric used in this one.  The apron is reversible with pockets on one side.  Most of the aprons I make are one size fits most (medium to 2X).  The smaller the cook, the more the apron wraps around her.

Day 3 was more my daughter's creative time than my own.  She wanted help duplicating a project she did at school for Chinese New Year.  She was very happy with the end product.  Maybe we will even frame it for her!
